Five MCD employees suspended for drowning incident

New Delhi, Dec 5 (IANS) Five Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) employees were suspended Saturday evening for negligence that led to drowning of two boys in northwest Delhi last week.
Municipal Commissioner K.S. Mehra suspended section officer Kanwar Pal, gardeners Mahaveer Chaudhary and Rajinder and masons Ajeet and Anoop of the engineering departments for the unauthorised digging of a pit in one of the municipal parks in the Shakarpur area in which two children, aged 4 and 8, drowned.

“The work was done without permission of the senior officials. No required safeguards were taken. The action was taken on the report of Deputy Commissioner, Rohini Zone,” the MCD said here in a statement.
