Five Maoists surrender in Jharkhand
January 28th, 2012 - 6:36 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Ranchi, Jan 28 (IANS) Five Maoists surrendered with arms in Jharkhand’s Khuti district Saturday, police said.
“Five Maoist guerrillas surrendered with four rifles, one country-made pistol, one revolver and five landmines each weighing 20 kg,” Khuti’s Superintendent of Police M. Tamilvanan told reporters.
Of the five, three belong to the banned Communist Party of India-Maoist group and two to People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI).
Nearly 40 Maoists have surrendered in Jharkhand in the past one year.
Each Maoist who surrenders is given Rs.50,000 in cash under the state government’s rehabilitation policy for the Left rebels.
