Five Maoists killed in Jharkhand
March 15th, 2011 - 7:50 pm ICT by IANSRanchi, March 15 (IANS) Five Maoists were killed in a gunfight with security forces in Khuti district of Jharkhand, police said. In another incident, the rebels torched 10 vehicles and injured a truck driver in Hazirabagh district.
“Five guerrillas have been killed in a gun battle. Our men saw that Maoists took away the dead bodies of their comrades,” a police officer told IANS on phone from Khuti, some 70 km from here.
In Hazaribagh, Maoists set ablaze ten vehicles, including three trucks and one bus, Tuesday morning. The rebels also fired at a truck, injuring its driver.
The incident took place in Chauparan, some 120 km from Ranchi.
Police also recovered one landmine and two detonators near Hutar colliery of Latehar district Tuesday.
