Five Maoists arrested in Orissa
December 17th, 2009 - 1:28 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Bhubaneswar, Dec 17 (IANS) Five Maoist guerrillas were arrested in Orissa’s Sundergarh district during a combing operation, police said Thursday.
They were arrested Wednesday night.
“We have arrested five Maoists during last night’s combing operation in the area. We had prior information about them. Last night we arrested them,” Sub Divisional Police Officer Sudarshan Sethy said.
According to the police, two of the five arrested were working as village quacks and used to go to Maoist camps regularly.
“Two of them were village quacks. They used to frequent Maoist camps and help them. They had a hand in several disruptive activities in the area,” he added.
The police are now interrogating those arrested about their activities.
