Five killed in Uttar Pradesh accident
August 10th, 2010 - 11:02 am ICT by IANSLucknow, Aug 10 (IANS) Five young men were killed and one was injured early Tuesday when the car they were travelling in collided with a speeding truck in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district, police said.
The accident took place on the Bulandshahr-Delhi road in Salempur area, about 400 km from here.
“Of the six men, who were present inside the Maruti 800 car, five died on the spot. Another youth received multiple injuries and was rushed to a hospital. His condition is stated to be serious,” police inspector Shrichand Bhati told reporters in Bulandshar.
“All the six men were friends and native of Aauhta village in Bulandshahr. The six men, aged 20-25 years, were returning to their native village after attending a function at their friend’s place in Mukimpur village of the district,” he said.
The truck driver managed to escape after the accident. “Efforts are on to nab the driver. Teams have been constituted in this regard,” said Bhati.
