Five killed in Pakistan bakery blast
June 6th, 2011 - 12:46 am ICT by IANSNowshera (Pakistan), June 5 (IANS) Five people were killed and 12 injured in a blast that ripped through a bakery in a cantonment area in Pakistan’s Nowshera district Sunday evening, Geo News reported.
Nowshera falls in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Gas cylinders in the bakery also blew up due to the blast, triggering a huge fire that engulfed the whole bakery, police sources said.
The bakery was full of shoppers at the time of the blast, it was learnt.
Fire tenders, ambulances and other emergency services reached the blast site and
kick-started rescue efforts.
Rescue teams of the Pakistan Army were also taking part in the relief and rescue effort.
Police officials, meanwhile, said they were trying to ascertain the causes that led to the incident.
