Five killed in Bengal road accident
December 3rd, 2010 - 7:03 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, Dec 3 (IANS) Five people were killed and 25 injured Friday when the bus in which they were travelling hit a stationary truck in West Bengal’s Burdwan district, police said.
“The Burdwan-bound bus hit the stone laden truck early morning at Suidi More near Assansol on National Highway No. 2. Four people were killed on the spot and another succumbed to his injuries at Assansol subdivisional hospital,” said a senior police officer.
“Because of poor visibility due to fog in the morning, the bus driver might have ignored the stationary truck and hit it. The truck was parked on the roadside,” he said.
Among the 25 injured, 15 are admitted to the Assansol subdivisional hospital, where the condition of two is reported to be critical. The rest are undergoing treatment in private nursing homes, said the police officer.
