Five killed as train hits vehicle
April 23rd, 2011 - 5:20 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, April 23 (IANS) At least five members of a family, including three women, were killed when their vehicle was hit by a train in Punjab’s Kapurthala district Saturday, police said.
Police officials said two other members of the family were seriously injured in the collision between the vehicle and the Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) train, going from Jalandhar to Ferozepur.
The accident took place near Kol Talwandi village in Sultanpur Lodhi area when the vehicle was trying to cross the railway track at an unmanned railway crossing.
Kapurthala is 200 km from Chandigarh.
