Chandigarh, Dec 22 (IANS) At least five people, including three women, were killed and nearly 25 others injured when a private luxury bus rolled down a gorge in Himachal Pradesh early Tuesday morning, 90 km from here.
The injured were rushed to the civil hospital in Anandpur Sahib in Punjab for treatment.

The accident took place near Garha Mora village inside Himachal territory on the hill state’s border with Punjab. The bus rolled down 100 feet into the gorge.

Police officials said that the bus was mainly carrying honeymoon couples from the hill resort of Manali in Himachal Pradesh to New Delhi.

They said that the bus could have rolled down the hill as the driver failed to negotiate a sharp curve.

“We received five dead bodies and nearly 25 other injured patients,” a doctor at the Anadpur Sahib hospital, 25 km from the accident spot.

Residents of nearby villagers rescued the accident victims before police and other agencies reached. Rescue operations were hampered due to darkness and fog in the area.
