Five die in Uttar Pradesh accident
May 30th, 2011 - 12:20 pm ICT by IANSShahjahanpur (Uttar Pradesh), May 30 (IANS) Five members of a family were killed and four critically injured when a speeding truck ploughed into their vehicle here, police said Monday.
The accident occurred late Sunday in Kaanth area, where the truck rammed into the tempo.
“While four people died on the spot, another succumbed on way to hospital. All the injured are being treated at a hospital, where the condition of three is stated to be serious,” police Inspector B.K. Gautam told reporters in Shahjahanpur, some 140 km from Lucknow.
The family members were returning to their native place in Shahjahanpur from a family function held on the outskirts of the district, he added.
The truck driver is absconding.
