Five die in Pakistan train collision
August 30th, 2011 - 2:07 pm ICT by IANSIslamabad, Aug 30 (IANS) At least five people were killed and 25 injured when two trains collided Tuesday morning in Lahore, media reports said.
The accident took place when a freight train rammed into a passenger train which had stopped after running over a child at a railway crossing in the city, reported Xinhua citing media reports.
The freight train heading from Peshawar to Karachi via Lahore collided with the stationary passenger train.
TV footage showed that the trains were seriously damaged. Three compartments of the passenger train overturned.
The freight train driver and another person were killed on the spot.
Train traffic was thrown out of gear following the accident.
