Five dead, one missing after boat mishap
December 5th, 2009 - 4:30 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Bhubaneswar, Dec 5 (IANS) Five people died and one person was missing in a boat mishap that occurred in Machkund reservoir on the border between Andhra Pradesh and Orissa, an official said.
“We have recovered five bodies so far and one person is still to be traced. The search operation is still on to trace the missing person,” said Krushna Chandra Mishra, Gram Panchayat Officer of Nandapur block.
The incident took place Thursday when a country boat carrying some villagers, mostly from Andhra Pradesh, capsized on its way from Pandua village of Koraput district of Orissa to Galaganda ghat of Andhra Pradesh.
One body was recovered on Friday while four bodies have been fished out on Saturday.
The officials from Andhra Pradesh and Orissa continued the search operation through Thursday and Friday night along with local people.
