Five cops killed in Jharkhand landmine blast
July 16th, 2010 - 8:20 pm ICT by IANSRanchi, July 16 (IANS) Five policemen were killed and 10 injured in a landmine blast triggered by Maoists in Jharkhand’s Latehar district Friday, police said.
The landmine blast took place near Kulihnallaha village, about 130 km from here. After the blast, a gun battle started between the police and the Maoists.
“Five policemen were injured in the landmine blast while five more were hurt during the gunfight. They were admitted to a hospital in Latehar. They have been referred to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) here,” Jharkhand Director General of Police (DGP) Neyaz Ahmad told IANS.
“The security personnel were involved in an operation against Maoists,” he said.
