Five Colombian cops die in plane crash
July 29th, 2011 - 12:07 pm ICT by IANSBogota, July 29 (IANS/EFE) Five Colombian police personnel were killed and a sixth officer was injured Thursday when their small aircraft crashed in a mountainous area of the northwestern province of Antioquia, authorities said.
The narcotics-squad detail was travelling from Ituango to Bogota aboard a Cessna aircraft, an official source told EFE.
The plane went down about five minutes after taking off from Los Galgos airport.
A captain, lieutenant and three non-commissioned officers were killed in the crash.
The crash survivor was taken by helicopter to a police clinic in Medellin, the provincial capital, the force said in a statement.
