Five arrested with explosives
August 4th, 2011 - 9:31 pm ICT by IANSMirzapur (Uttar Pradesh), Aug 4 (IANS) Five men, suspected of Maoist links, were nabbed with a huge cache of explosives in this Uttar Pradesh district Thursday, police said.
The five - aged between 26-30 years - were nabbed in Ahrarura town with 2,000 detonators and around 50 kg of widely used commercial explosive ammonium nitrate.
“It appears that the five were supposed to hand over the illegal consignment of explosives to Maoists,” Police Inspector Deepak Pandey told reporters in Mirzapur, some 300 km from Lucknow.
“Of the five arrested, four are from Maoist-hit Rohtas district of Bihar, while another is from Uttar Pradesh’s Chandauli district,” he added.
Police are yet to ascertain from where the five brought the explosives.
