Five arrested, spurious ghee unit busted in Mumbai
July 21st, 2010 - 5:41 pm ICT by IANSMumbai, July 21 (IANS) Five people were arrested and over 100 kg of spurious ghee was seized in a raid at a fake ghee making unit in suburban Jogeshwari here early Wednesday, police said.
Acting on a tip off, officers of Jogeshwari Police Station raided a small room in the Yadavnagar Chawl of the suburb and arrested five people preparing ghee in unhygienic conditions.
“We arrested five people from the spot and seized 138 kg of fake ghee,” police officer Rajendra Kane said.
“The ghee was being made using Dalda, palm oil, bread and fine wheat floor. It was sold for only Rs.80-100 per kg,” Kane added.
Those arrested are Vinodkumar Yadav, 28, Banarasi Yadav, 22, Naresh Yadav, 25, Hira Yadav, 22 and Vijay Yadav, 25.
