Fire in Indian Navy chopper; 13 on board safe
December 12th, 2011 - 6:12 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Dec 12 (IANS) Thirteen servicemen had a miraculous escape when a fire that broke out on board an Indian Navy helicopter at Mangalore airport was quickly doused, an officer said here.
The Sea King helicopter had landed at the Mangalore airport while on a flight from Kochi to Mumbai.
“The fire was reported when the helicopter was on the ground. It was extinguished using the resources of the Mangalore airport,” the officer said.
“All 13 navy personnel on board, including three crew members are unhurt,” he added.
The navy has ordered an investigation into the incident.
