Fire in Faridabad paint unit
May 1st, 2012 - 10:49 pm ICT by IANSFaridabad, May 1 (IANS) A major fire broke out at a paint manufacturing unit here Tuesday destroying a large quantity of stored material, an official said.
The fire broke out in the sector 58 unit here of MKRK Lamp International, a company that prepares paints. The blaze was first noticed at around 5.30 p.m. Due to May Day Tuesday there was a holiday in the factory.
A fire officer said the fire started from the company warehouse, where a large number of drums containing chemicals were kept. Due to the fire, the drums exploded like bombs at intervals, the officer added.
No one was killed or injured in the incident.
To control the fire, 20 fire tenders were called from the neighbouring districts, the officer said.
