Fire destroys Rs.one crore-worth goods in glass factory
March 17th, 2011 - 1:53 pm ICT by IANSFirozabad (Uttar Pradesh), March 17 (IANS) A huge fire in a glass factory here destroyed goods worth Rs.one crore. The fire has now been contained, police said Thursday.
Circle Officer Anurag Darshan said four fire tenders were rushed to the spot Wednesday night. Fire fighters battled for several hours to contain the blaze.
Devi Sharan Agarwal, the owner of Bajrang Glass factory’s godown, said Rs.one crore worth of goods were destroyed.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
Firozabad, 40 km from Agra and part of the eco-sensitive Taj Trapezium Zone, is famous as the Bangles city or Suhag Nagri, with more than 300 units engaged in glass ware production.
“In recent months this is the fourth fire case in the factories,” said an agitated worker, who did not want to be identified.
