Fire breaks out in Kolkata shopping mall
September 18th, 2010 - 7:17 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, Sep 18 (IANS) A restaurant was gutted as a major fire broke out in a shopping mall on Camac Street in the heart of Kolkata Saturday morning, police said.
“Around 8.40 a.m. locals noticed smoke coming out of a four storeyed building in which the shopping mall and other private offices were housed,” a police officer said.
Gopal Bhattacharya, director of West Bengal fire and emergency services department, said: “A restaurant on the first floor of the complex where the fire broke out was completely gutted. It took two hours to douse the flames.”
However, there was no casualty or injury. The extent of damage is yet to be ascertained.
