Films on Tagore at international fest in Agartala
September 1st, 2011 - 5:54 pm ICT by IANSAgartala, Sep 1 (IANS) “Rabindranath Tagore”, “Tagore’s ode to Nature” and “Brahmin” — award-winning documentary films on the Nobel laureate — and other movies from across the world will be screened at an international film festival that began here Thursday.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar inaugurated the four-day festival, jointly organised by the central government’s Film’s Division, the Tripura government and Cine Delve, a renowned film society.
“In all, 23 award-winning and internationally-acclaimed films selected from the Mumbai International Film Festival for documentary, short and animation films will be screened in the first of its kind film festival in the northeast,” union information and broadcasting ministry’s films division official Sumoy Mukherjee told reporters.
Six films on Tagore are part of the festival, he added.
Cine Delve secretary Subhashish Talapatra said the festival would screen some of the best movies from across the world, including Spain, Australia, Bulgaria, Canada, Britain, Lebanon, Belgium and Bangladesh.
