Female security guard alleges sexual harassment

Noida, March 26 (IANS) A 30-year-old woman guard with a security agency here has alleged sexual harassment by a senior officer in the company. But the police say it is the firm that has slapped a case against her.
The woman told IANS that the deputy director of the firm had repeatedly sought sexual favours from her. She said she was not given work after she refused to submit to him and eventually asked to quit last week.

“I have two little daughters and was working with the company for 14 years for Rs.3,000 a month. For several months I was tolerating (his behaviour). But the situation kept on worsening,” the woman said.

“Tired, I approached the police. But the police said the company had lodged a complaint against me saying I was trying to disturb peace. How can a single woman harm such a big company?” she asked.

“This happened not only to me but to several other women who are silently suffering sexual harassment,” she added.

Several attempts by IANS to reach the deputy director of the company failed because he did not take the call.

A police officer said: “We have not received any complaint from the lady. Instead, we have a complaint from the company against the woman.”
