New Delhi, May 20 (IANS) Fearing his arrest for stealing a licensed gun, a 20-year-old youth Wednesday committed suicide by shooting himself in the head at his south Delhi home, police said.
Rahul Kumar, who worked as a sweeper in a bungalow of Defence Colony, committed suicide at his home in Panchsheel Vihar area of Malviya Nagar around noon, they said.

“Rahul came in close contact with Pintu Malik, who works as a security guard in the bungalow. A few days ago Malik had gone to his village and that was when Rahul stole the licensed gun from his quarters,” said a police officer.

Police said when Malik returned to Delhi Tuesday and found his gun missing, he had suspicion that Rahul had stolen it.

“Malik went to Rahul’s house where they exchanged some heated words. Malik told him the reason of his suspicion and threatened to report the matter to police. A short while after Malik left, Rahul shot himself in the head,” said the officer.

Police said the victim’s body was sent for post-mortem and the weapon was recovered.
