Fear of exams drives college student to suicide
March 12th, 2009 - 4:51 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, March 12 (IANS) Fear of failure in exams drove a 19-year-old college student to commit suicide here, the police said Thursday.
According to the police, Jyoti committed suicide by hanging herself with a rope at her sector 19 home here.
“The police have recovered a suicide note in which the deceased had written that she is depressed and was taking this extreme step. Lack of preparation for the forthcoming exams could be one of the reasons behind this,” Ram Gopal, investigating officer of the case, told IANS.
Jyoti was studying for a graduate degree in a college here and her final exams were in April.
“The body has been sent for autopsy and the police have registered a case,” Gopal added.
