Father, son kiiled in West Bengal attack
May 24th, 2011 - 7:41 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, May 24 (IANS) A man and his son were killed in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district when a group of men attacked his house, police said Tuesday.
Mahabul Sheikh was hacked to death while his son Natabar alias Masarul Sheikh was burnt alive.
The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) claimed the victims were their party supporters and were killed by Congress activists.
“A group raided Mahabul Sheikh’s house in Beldanga Monday night. They hacked him to death and set his house on fire,” said Murshidabad Additional Police Superintendent Dip Narayan Goswami.
“Mahabul’s son Natabar alias Masarul Sheikh was locked inside a room and was burnt alive. Two other members of the family sustained minor injuries and have been admitted to a hospital,” Goswami told IANS over phone.
According to him, Mahabul was wanted in several cases in Beldanga and the attack could be a revenge.
