Ghaziabad, Jan 17 (IANS) Angered over his daughter’s love marriage two years ago, her father killed her and even tried to murder her one-year-old son Sunday in Loni town near here, police said.
Parveen, 20, the daughter of Haroon married Tahir, her neighbour, two years ago against her parent’s wishes. Her parents never accepted the marriage and threatened to kill both of them.

Parveen and Tahir came to meet Tahir’s aunt, with whom he used to live after his father died about two years ago. Before going to her house, Tahir stopped to buy fruit and Parveen continued on alone. Parveen’s father saw his daughter and in a fit of anger, came out on the street with his wife and son, and hit her head on the head with a heavy iron bar, killing her on the spot. The trio also tried to to kill Parveen’s one-year-old son, police said.

Police have arrested all of Parveen’s family on a complaint by her husband. “On the complaint of Tahir, we have registered a criminal case and have arrested Parveen’s father Tahir, mother Khursheeda, brother Mirwaiz and his wife,” Circle Officer (Border) Happy Guptan said.
