New Delhi, June 9 (IANS) A father-daughter duo of explorers from Delhi have completed the gruelling 600 km Trans-Greenland Ski Expedition as part of a 19-day adventure tour, their sponsor said Thursday.

“Ajeet Bajaj and 17-year-old daughter Deeya Suzannah Bajaj, went on a Trans-Greenland Ski Expedition,” an official from private firm Woodland, which sponsored them, said.

The expedition involved skiing about 600 km from the east coast of Greenland from a place called Kangelussaq to Isortoq on the west coast. This route forms a part of the Polar Trilogy (much like the seven summits of mountaineering).

The 45-year-old Bajaj, through the expedition, has completed all three. He said: “I have been to all places over India and many places abroad. And this (Greenland) was one of the toughest expeditions that I ever undertook.”

“The climatic conditions were cold and harsh, temperature reached minus 40 degrees at certain times. It was just fantastic,” Bajaj told IANS.

Deeya, a student of Delhi’s Shri Ram School, said: “This expedition will call attention to the plight of the girl child in our country and help raise funds for a girls orphanage near Haridwar.”

The duo skied for upto 10 hours a day while on the ice cap.

“We congratulate Deeya. This was a tough experience,” said Harkirat Singh, managing director of Woodland.
