Fast bowler Harris opposed to being rested or rotated

Sydney, Oct 5 (IANS) Australia’s fast bowler Ryan Harris is opposed to being rested or rotated and he is keen on touring South Africa this summer.

Harris was a big success on the recent tour of Sri Lanka, claiming 11 wickets at an average of just 14.54 in only two cricket Tests as he missed the third and final Test with a hamstring strain.

In his short career of seven Tests, dogged by knee, ankle and hamstring problems, he has 31 wickets at just 20.9.

“I don’t want to rest, I’ve made that pretty clear, I want to play every Test I can,” Harris was quoted as saying in The Sydney Morning Herald.

“I feel as though once I get some games of cricket under my belt again I’ll feel stronger and more confident, that I’ll be able to stay fit at the top level.

“I don’t want to miss cricket, I’ll be 32 in a couple of days, so I want to be playing as much as I can.”

Harris says he does not believe fast bowlers need to be rotated at Test level.

“I like to keep bowling so if the selectors say we have to sit out, then we have to sit out and do as we’re told,” he said.

“But I don’t feel rotation will help me, but if that’s what they say, that’s what I’ll do. But I don’t think it’s a great thing.

“There’s a lot more one-day cricket being played maybe, but Test cricket, I think rotation is not great. That’s my opinion. I hope I don’t get shot for saying that.”
