Farmer leader Tewatia arrested in south Delhi
July 9th, 2011 - 4:10 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, July 9 (IANS) Farmer leader Manveer Singh Tewatia was Saturday arrested from New Delhi by Uttar Pradesh police. He was wanted for allegedly instigating the violence in Bhatta-Parsaul in Greater Noida against land acquisition.
Tewatia was arrested from Hauz Khas in south Delhi, police sources said.
The Uttar Pradesh police had announced a reward of Rs.50,000 for his arrest.
He has been taken to Noida. Further details are awaited.
The May 7 violence, in which farmers clashed with police, led to the death of three people, including two policemen.
