Family robbed of Rs.8 mn at gunpoint in Delhi

New Delhi, May 12 (IANS) In a daylight robbery, five men Monday allegedly barged into a southwest Delhi house and held the family members hostage at gunpoint before escaping with cash, valuables and jewellery worth Rs.8 million. According to the police, one of the robbers knocked at the door of Shambu Dayal’s Dabri home on the pretext of asking an address. Then the robbers barged into the house, held the female family members and their servant hostage at gunpoint.

Dayal was at his furniture showroom in Kirti Nagar market with his brothers Prabhu Dayal and Raju Dayal when the incident took place.

The family members said the robbers ransacked the house and fled with cash, jewellery and valuables worth Rs.8 million.

“The men threatened my wife and my younger brother’s wife and ransacked the house, fleeing with cash and jewellery worth Rs.8 million,” Dayal said.

The police said a case of robbery has been registered and investigations were underway.
