Family found murdered in Maharashtra

Mumbai, Nov 11 (IANS) Four members of a family, including two minor girls, were found murdered Tuesday in Thane locality here, police said.Kallu Kanaujia, 45, his wife Phoolmati, 37, and their two daughters Nisha, 9 and Soni, 7, are believed to have been murdered Monday night at their residence in Sai Sahara Building at Nalla Sopara suburb of Thane, around 30 km north from here, investigating officer Lakshman Tambe said.

He said Kanaujia’s married daughter Rita, who lives nearby and had gone to meet her family members Tuesday informed the police and her brother about the killings.

“The body of Phoolmati, who ran a laundry, was found near the kitchen, while the other three victims were found in the bedroom,” Tambe said.

The police have registered a case and launched a manhunt to trace the killers. The bodies have been shifted to a nearby hospital for autopsy.

Kanaujia, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, ran a shop in south Mumbai.
