Kolkata, Feb 14 (IANS) Family members, neighbours and friends mourned the death of the three Kolkata residents who were killed in a terror strike that occurred at the German Bakery in Pune Saturday evening.
Police sources confirmed that siblings Ankik Dar, 24, and Anandi Dar, 19, were residents of Kolkata’s posh satellite township Salt Lake sector-I while the third victim, Shilpa Goenka, 23, lived at Lake Town area located on the eastern fringes of the city.

“I am shocked to hear about the terror tragedy. I still can’t believe that Ankik is no more. He was a very brilliant student and his family members, as I remember, were so cooperative,” said Sukalpa Guha, a private tutor who taught Ankik.

“He always scored the highest marks in mathematics but he was also good in other subjects like Bengali. I have seen very few students like Ankik who are really good and meritorious in studies,” she said, mourning the tragic death of the 24-year-old.

According to local sources, Ankik who passed out from the premier engineering institute Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Kharagpur was working in a private firm in Mumbai. His sister was a student of Fergusson College in Pune.

Shilpa, a childhood friend of Ankik who died in the same accident, was also working in Mumbai.

Sources in the family of the brother-sister duo said that their parents have already rushed to Pune and the bodies of both Ankik and Anandi would likely be cremated in Pune.

“We are extremely shattered and we just don’t have any words. We can’t believe that our friend is no more. We heard that the bag full of explosive was lying under the table where they were sitting,” one of Anandi’s friends said while breaking down.

The terror strike at the German Bakery killed nine people and left at least 57 injured.
