Fake US currency seized in Punjab
February 15th, 2011 - 6:45 pm ICT by IANSHoshiarpur (Punjab), Feb 15 (IANS) Fake US currency with a face value of $5,000 was seized from three men who were arrested in this Punjab town Tuesday, police said.According to the police, the arrested men are residents of border town Ferozepur and earlier also they indulged in the circulation of counterfeit currency in Punjab.
“This is one of the biggest seizures of fake US dollars in this part of the country. We had laid a trap after getting a secret tip-off and arrested the accused. So far we have not ascertained the source of this fake currency,” Hoshiarpur’s Senior Superintendent of Police Rakesh Aggarwal told IANS.
The three are being questioned and more arrests are expected, he added.
Hoshiarpur town is around 120 km from Chandigarh.
