“We raided the Amrita Dairy Private Limited and recovered over 50 quintals of manufactured fake and adulterated ghee,” Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Rajesh Singh told reporters.
Huge quantities of chemicals, animal fat, edible and mustard oil - used to manufacture fake ghee - were also recovered.
“Owner Narayan Dutt supplies two very famous brands - Astha and Radha - to a majority of districts in the state and it is suspected that those buying the stocks from him are also involved in this racket,” Singh added.
A team of Food and Drug Authority, which also accompanied the police, collected samples and took them for further inspection.
