December 18th, 2011 - 10:42 pm ICT by IANSGhaziabad, Dec 18 (IANS) A couple, in love for years but facing opposition from their families to marriage, committed suicide by hanging themselves in this Uttar Pradesh city bordering the national capital, police said.
The bodies of Shilpa Rana, 24, and Saurabh Singh, 26, were discovered in her flat at Shipra Sun City area here.
Shilpa, who shared a flat with the four other girls, was an executive with an IT company in Noida, while Saurabh worked with the Greater Noida authority.
On Saturday when the four other girls were away from the flat, Shilpa called Saurabh over, and they consumed a poisonous substance in tea before hanging themselves from the ceiling fan.
When the other girls came back and found the door locked from inside, they called police, who broke it open to find the two dead.
“Prime facie it seems a suicide in agreement. Their bodies have been sent for post-mortem and their families have been informed,” said Circle Officer III Kamlesh Bahadur.
