Facing financial crisis, woman and sons commit suicideMay 29th, 2008 - 10:40 pm ICT by admin
New Delhi, May 29 (IANS) Facing financial crisis, a 55-year-old woman and her two sons allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison in their rented accommodation in north Delhi, the police said Thursday. The bodies of Kusum Lata Jain and her two unmarried sons Sachin, 27, and Pramod, 24, were found when milk vendor Sagar entered their first-floor house in Sabzi Mandi area in Thursday morning to supply milk.
the police said Sagar first knocked on the door, which was open, and entered the house as he got no response from them. He saw all three lying in the room with white froth oozing out of their mouths.
Sagar ran out of the house and called the police. All cash and jewellery in the house were intact, the police said.
Their bodies were handed over to Kusum Lata Jain’s daughters Poonam and Mona, both married, after the post-mortem examination.
The police said Kusum Lata’s husband Satish Jain died a year and a half ago from cancer. The family had to sell their house and a factory for Satish’s treatment.
Since then the three were living in a rented house, and the sons ran their father’s business from a rented accommodation.
“We don’t suspect any foul play. We think financial crisis might have led the family to commit suicide,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North District) Devesh Srivastva.
