Extra-marital affair forces official to commit suicide
December 30th, 2010 - 8:44 pm ICT by IANSShimla, Dec 30 (IANS) A senior Himachal Pradesh government official Thursday committed suicide at his residence here as a woman he was having an extra-marital affair with was forcing him to marry her, police said.
“Joint Secretary of the Sainik Welfare Department G.R. Bharti, 55, was found lying in his house in a pool of blood,” Superintendent of Police Sonal Agnihotri told reporters.
Police officer Suresh Kumar said Bharti, in a nine-page suicide note written in Hindi, narrated his entire life history.
Bharti’s family, including his wife, was not in town when he took his life by consuming some poisonous substance.
Last year also, a government official had taken his life by shooting himself with his service revolver here.
