May 10th, 2011 - 9:12 pm ICT by IANSBhopal, May 10 (IANS) A consignment of explosives was seized in Madhya Pradesh’s Neemuch district Tuesday and two people were arrested, police said.
“Acting on an intillegence tip-off, we checked a mini truck coming from Rajasthan. The vehicle’s driver escaped but two other people in the vehicle were arrested,” Neemuch Superintendent of Police T. Amongla Ayyar told IANS.
The haul comprised 730 gelatine rods, 600 detonators, 100 kg of ammonium nitrate and 750 meters of wire.
However, police are yet to find out the destination of the explosives and the two arrested people - Sampat Singh and Nitu Singh, both residents of Rajasthan - are being questioned.
“The accused are giving evasive answers, which we do not believe,” Ayyar said, adding investigations were on to know the destination of the explosives and purpose for which they were to be used.
Neemuch, adjoining Rajasthan, is around 460 km from Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal.
