Moscow, June 3 (RIA Novosti) An exhibition of paintings by Indian artist Surjit Akre has opened in Penza, 630 km from the Russian capital. The exhibition, titled “Paradise on Earth”, which opened Monday, is the artist’s 42nd personal show featuring 35 canvases on nature and love.
Coinciding with the Year of the Family in Russia, the exhibition significantly includes painting of Krishna, the godhead who creates harmony through love in society and uphold the truth against hatred and evil.
The exhibition will run till June 12.
Another group of paintings is devoted to the woman as child, girl and mother. The paintings are in lush colours that convey the resplendence of the Indian nature and the inner beauty of its people that justifies the title of the exhibition.

The artist, who considers Russia her second home, is well acquainted with the art circle of Penza and has interactions with Tatyana Chagorova, a noted Russian painter who was born there.
“I met Tatyana at an exhibition in New Delhi last year and she told me about Penza. I knew that I wanted to visit that provincial Russian town and show my work to its people,” Surjit told a press conference on the exhibition.
The prolific artist has created more than 3,000 paintings over a period of more than 20 years.
