Ex-official held for fraud
January 7th, 2012 - 10:33 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Jan 7 (IANS) A 58-year-old former official of the ministry of communications and Information technology has been nabbed for forging documents and posing as a lawyer, police said Saturday.
Jagbir Singh was arrested near Saket in south Delhi Jan 4.
“Around 20 forged rubber stamps of different high ranking government officials and forged official documents have been recovered from his possession,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Chhaya Sharma said.
Singh had recently got a couple a marriage certificate based on fake documents.
He also used forged handicapped certificates to get concessions in rail tickets and had counterfeited a Bar Council of Delhi ID card to pose as a lawyer.
He used to operate from his home-cum-office in Burari area of north Delhi.
Singh has a masters degree in Economics, English and a bachelors degree in law.
He was previously arrested and convicted in a similar case of cheating, and was forced to go on compulsory retirement in 2009.
