Eviction from unauthorised colony triggers violence in Ghaziabad
September 5th, 2009 - 5:17 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Ghaziabad, Sep 5 (IANS) An angry mob set ablaze a bus and pelted stones at police as some people violently protested the government’s move to evict them from an unauthorised colony here, officials said.
Police used teargas and fired in the air to disperse the irate mob after a large number of people gathered and blocked the National Highway (NH) 24 at Ghaziabad, officials said.
People set a bus on fire and threw stones following the government’s move asking them to vacate the colony where they were living.
According to officials, the colony is unauthorised.
