Equities markets close lower (Third Lead)

Mumbai, Dec 24 (IANS) Indian equities markets ended trade lower Wednesday, with a key index losing 88 points (provisional) over Tuesday’s close.The sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) closed at 9,598.85 points amid continued selling, a fall of 87.9 points or 0.91 percent from its previous close of 9,686.75 points.
S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) fell 40.3 points or 1.35 percent to close at 2,928.7 points.
Broader market indices also fell with the midcap index going down 0.82 percent and the smallcap index shedding 0.93 percent over its previous close.
