Engineering student found dead in college washroom

Lalru (Punjab), June 22 (IANS) A 22-year-old computer engineering student was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the washroom of his college here Wednesday evening, police said.

According to the police, the student was identified as Anup Sehgal, a resident of Ambala city of Haryana. He was a final year engineering student of Swami Parmanand Engineering College here.

“Anup had come for an examination at the college this afternoon. It was during the examination, that he went to the washroom but did not come back. The sanitary supervisor of the college found him lying unconscious inside the washroom,” said a police official here.

He added: “He was immediately taken to the hospital but was declared brought dead. We have sent the body for post-mortem and are waiting for the report.”

In the meantime, police have registered a case and started investigations.

Lalru town, in Mohali district, is around 15 km from state capital Chandigarh.
