Engineer found dead under mysterious circumstances
November 19th, 2010 - 9:00 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, Nov 19 (IANS) A 50-year-old engineer was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his house here, police said.
The deceased, a resident of Sector 23, was identified as Ranjit Kumar. He was working as a Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) in the Punjab Urban Development Authority (PUDA) department in the neighbouring Mohali town.
According to the police, there was no sign of external injury on his body.
“He was an introvert and was staying away from his family. He rarely talked to his neighbours and had no friends in the locality. His neighbours informed the police after they got a foul smell from the house,” Desh Raj, Chandigarh assistant superintendent of police, told IANS.
“Forensic experts were also called to scrutinise the crime spot. We are working on the theories of suicide as well as murder. Things will become clear once we have the post-mortem report in our hand,” he added.
