The coaches of the Miraj-Hubli express went off the rails around 4.30 a.m. near Tavaragatti station on the Hubli-Londa section, South Western Railway Hubli Division Manager Aadesh Sharma said in a statement.
Londa is in Belgaum, around 530 km from here.
“No passenger was injured,” he said.
Investigation has begun to determine the cause of the accident, Sharma said.
The passengers were sent to Hubli, about 130 km from the accident site, in 10 buses.
The derailment forced cancellation of three train services, he added.
