Elderly man kills self
April 14th, 2011 - 12:57 am ICT by IANSNew Delhi, April 13 (IANS) Depressed over his failing health, an elderly man committed suicide by setting himself afire in the capital, police said Wednesday.
Shiv Dayal, 80, poured kerosene over himself and set himself on fire around 10 a.m. at his residence at Uttam Nagar in west Delhi.
A neighbour informed the police and he was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Dayal’s son Yogender, who lives separately, had come to visit him an hour before the incident.
No suicide note was found. Dayal was a retired Indian Railways official.
