Noida, May 11 (IANS) An elderly couple were in serious condition after being allegedly stabbed by a former driver in their home in sector-55 here, police said Monday.
According to police, Kishan Chand Singla, 77, and his wife Shanti Devi, 74, stayed alone in a flat in D-block of Sector-55 and had employed a driver, Vijay Prasad, who left the job after working for just two months.

Vijay had last come to work May 1 after which he disappeared. On May 5, he resurfaced but was sacked by Singla for his irregularity. He also told Vijay that he was highly dissatisfied with his services.

On Sunday, Vijay visited the couple’s home with two accomplices.

As Shanti Devi recognized Vijay, she opened the gate. Singla was sleeping in his room at that time.

After entering the house, Vijay and his accomplice attacked the couple. They allegedly thrashed the wife and stabbed Singla with a knife.

The couple were brought to the Kailash Hospital by neighbours where they were said to be in serious condition.

“We have traced Vijay’s father to sector-56 and are questioning him about his son’s whereabouts,” said a police official.
