Elderly couple murdered in Punjab town
February 20th, 2012 - 12:25 am ICT by IANSChandigarh, Feb 19 (IANS) A retired couple was found murdered in their house in Punjab’s Garhshankar town Sunday, police said.
S.P.S. Bedi, 72, a retired chief engineer and his wife, Gurcharan Kaur, a retired doctor, were strangulated to death. Police found the entire house ransacked.
A case of murder has been registered on the basis of the complaint of the victims’ son, who is a doctor posted at Chandigarh.
Garhshankar town, 80 km from Chandigarh, is located in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur district.
Hoshiarpur police chief B.S. Sidhu said that investigations were being carried out to solve the murder. He said that the case appeared to be that of robbery.
He said that the victims’ car was also missing from the house.
