Eight killed in Himachal accident
January 12th, 2012 - 10:29 pm ICT by IANSShimla, Jan 12 (IANS) At least eight passengers were killed Thursday evening when a state roadways bus skidded off the road and rolled down the hills in Himachal Pradesh’s upper Shimla region, which has been hit by heavy snowfall in the past few days, officials said.
The bus carrying around 20 people was going from Chopal town to Dharchana village when it rolled down the hill near Kupvi, some 120 km from here, in Chopal tehsil, Deputy Commissioner Onkar Sharma told IANS.
The injured passengers were rushed to nearby hospitals in Sirmaur district.
The accident spot recently experienced heavy snowfall.
The cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained, police said.
