“Three bisons strayed into Magalkata tea garden from adjacent Daina forest. When the tea garden employees tried to drive the three bisons away, one of them attacked the employees. Eight people were injured, of whom an eight-year-old boy and a forest guard were seriously injured,” District Forest Officer (Wild Life) Kalyan Das told IANS on phone.
Other forest guards rushed to the spot and succeeded in driving away two of the bisons to Totapara forest. But the third bison carried out rampage in the garden.
“Finally, the bison was tranquilised and later released into nearby forest after veterinary experts conducted a check-up,” Das said.
The injured people were taken to a nearby hospital.
